An experiment in social engineering to change and enforce widespread behavior in the nanny state. Not sold on the notion that previous experiments were complete failures like this article suggests but it's an interesting perspective. Read on.
"Fat celebrities are the latest victims of the UK public health establishment's attempt to socially engineer our cultural and political environment so that the public becomes less tolerant of obesity and those the government categorises as obese. Through such nanny-state paternalism, the government seeks to ensure that people behave in "appropriate" ways, as defined by itself and a coterie of public health bureaucrats and academics."

Yeah, mine goes away, but it always comes back. Someone is more than welcome to keep it hostage.
I'm sure this is an unexpected result of socialized medicine. When the masses start to pay the bill for the masses they want to find fault in others that may cost more. So look for drinking, smoking and being obese to become targets of any society that depends on socialized medicine. IMHO

Yes, we will see a rise in "sin" tax on a much broader and more demanding scale than this country has ever seen before. In my opinion, the worst fault that the stereotypical liberal is guilty of is not the inability to follow logic, but the lack of imagination that stems from that fault. Imagine a Star Trek world with synthetic alcohol that is not alcohol...you want sugar, salt? Too damn bad. Not exercising enough and your guilty of gaining pounds. Exercise too much and you'll be guilty of causing sports related injuries that the rest of us will have to pay for. Better get ready to have Big Brother Gyms with a mandatory card that you have to have filled out weekly and turned in with your taxes annually.

The direction society is heading with the devaluation of life I can see the old and infirm mercy killed then the ugly and obese. Hitler proved that mankind is capable of such feats.
Let's at least start with the ugly! I mean really, we don't need them fellas around! And now that I think about it, we don't need no stinking fat people either. Look, anyone that looks different than me...into the oven! You know if we could start with Chris Dodd, Barney Franks, and Ted Kennedy, you got a deal!:rofl

The Libs might actually encourage dangerous motorcycling to "thin the herd". After all, most motorcyclists (with the exception of a few that used to be on this forum) are freedom-loving, independent, small-government types of people. We also tend to have guns and know how to use them. Kind of a hinderance to their future plans.:rofl

Hell our own "progressives" of the period endorsed the steralization of the uneducated, the poor, and our own countries native American population. They even endorsed Hitler until the late 30's when it became impossible to do so. Also, we had a big hand in developing the idea of eugenics. Now, once again "progressive" has lost the negative label and is back in the mainstream as our savior. As to the rest...they'll try to force us of our bikes by way of making insurance impossible to procure and will force us all onto 125cc scooters.
