Anybody else hear about this??? I can't access youtube from work...damn internet nazis...this is f***ed up IMO! Much as I may not like it, people are free to express themselves and their hatred for America and freedom; but when a symbol of the nation is used as a tool to viciously demonstrate that hatred, that free speech stuff is out the window.

"Police in New York City are scrambling to locate the producers of a YouTube video that depicts a stolen replica of the Statue of Liberty blindfolded, beheaded and smashed into pieces — a display that one terror expert says is intended to "instill fear" in everyday Americans."

I saw this. It disgusts me. No matter their ideology or motive, I don't like when anyone defaces any symbol that represents our historical values, freedoms, or prosperity.

How Is This Not A Hate Crime? Hell If I Went And Burned A Cross In My Yard I Would Be Arrested For A Hate Crime

I agree that the video is disturbing. The issue at heart is one of evoking terror. However, let me play devil's advocate and suggest that the producer of this video is ENTITLED to their freedom of expression as granted by the first amendment.

I don't agree with the message, and I don't agree with burning the flag. I do however believe in the right of self expression.

The video doesn't call for any particular action, and I know that the Terrorist Sensitive world we live in will do everything in their power to crucify those who made this video, however consider how those fearful reflexes intrude on the first amendment. I think it's an interesting conundrum.

You missed an important point, the statue was STOLEN. It elevates the situation a bit in my mind and it was clearly a message of intimidation.
