Did I hear correct today that the IRS has been instructed to dig deeper then ever for more tax dollars. Off shore accounts and tighter screening of returns in order to come up with more tax dollars?

Possibly so, and even stronger legislation is wending it's way through Congress

That is sad, instead of looking for ways to cut waste they are looking for ways to get more to waste.
