I really don't think Bush I, Bush II, or Reagan would have fallen for something like this. They'd have caught on early enough to ensure their interest in the deal was beneficial and not the hokey dance BHO got out of it. This really demonstrates his ineptitude at matters of strategic importance...hell even Palin, despite her inexperience, probably would've seen through this one.

"Earlier this month, President Barack Obama visited Moscow and signed a preliminary agreement aimed at getting both countries to reduce their nuclear and conventional weapons systems. But the Russians are playing a clever game. The “cuts” they propose wouldn’t actually affect their defenses at all."

Ed is correct. What the West does not realize is that the Cold War never really ended. The Soviet Union only changed in appearance.

US leadership spends all its time wooing the boomer voting populace with portraits of peace and diplomacy. They're so self-absorbed with promises of entitlements to maintain their own political power that they can't see how hard other nations like Russia are laboring to deceive us.

The game that runs the world is no longer entirely military; it's now more political and economic. Russia fully understands this while our leadership is too naive to see it. The Russian economy is no powerhouse today, but that playing field is leveling as US economic might wanes. One thing Russia does have is full control of its industries, while the US is at the mercy of foreign investors. But politically, Russia is leaps and bounds ahead of us. They are anything but naive - they are playing the game deliberately, to win.

Acknowledging the Deception

In the West we were told that the Soviet system was finished. We were told that the Communist Party lost power, the KGB was reformed and democracy won the day.

So it was a sham?

“Yes, it was a fake, an imitation,” Kalashnikov insisted. “From the very beginning the idea was, we’ll get back, we’ll modernize. And that’s how it happened. Of course, many Western observers were happy about the new faces and new styles and openness. But step by step, you yourself may remember that many American institutions here in Russia have been pushed out or brought under Russian control. So, formally, we have several Western bodies here allegedly doing democracy and consulting work, but in fact they have become an instrument of Kremlin policy to imitate and exploit for their own purposes.”

Here are the words of a former KGB official, telling the truth from his home in Moscow, barred from employment for his honesty – blacklisted by his former colleagues because he did not want to participate in the greatest deception of our time.

In terms of modern strategy Russia’s reduced size brings advantages. Now Russia is not responsible for feeding Azerbaijan or providing cheap energy to the Baltic States or Ukraine. The KGB’s weapons of influence and manipulation, including organized crime and drug trafficking, can be used to influence and manipulate without maintaining expensive armies. And so, the Russians have learned how to streamline their dominance. Make the Americans think that Washington has the upper hand. But look around today and see what is happening to the American economy, to the U.S. dollar, and to the U.S. nuclear deterrent. There is a visible weakening in all three areas.

I certainly believe it to be fitting. I don't think this presidency has any staying power, when images like this one has already gone viral, according to sources.

Tentative Inspection Program Would Allow Russia to Visit U.S. Nuclear Sites
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/10/13/tentative-inspection-program-allow-russia-visit-nuclear-sites/

Russia and the United States have tentatively agreed to a weapons inspection program that would allow Russians to visit nuclear sites in America to count missiles and warheads.

The plan, which Fox News has learned was agreed to in principle during negotiations, would constitute the most intrusive weapons inspection program the U.S. has ever accepted.

Everyone needs to know exactly what the current administration is accomplishing.
Don't take my word for it... this column spells it out:

Disarming America
by J. R. Nyquist
10.16.2009

As part of the next arms reduction treaty between superpowers, the United States has tentatively agreed to unprecedented Russian access to American nuclear missile sites. According to published accounts, Russian weapons inspectors will be given an open door to American nuclear sites in order to monitor the number of missiles and warheads. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is quite satisfied with the deal. Perhaps it is an error of omission, but there is no news of a similar concession from the Russian side. This is psychologically and strategically significant: first, because it presents us with a President and a Secretary of State who are mistaken in their assessment of Kremlin trustworthiness; second, because it shows weakness in the President; third, because the Russians are demonstrating a kind of superiority.

Under the present administration the policy is clear: The American side gives up one strategic advantage after another; and the Russians have come to expect these concessions. Logically, the Kremlin envisions a day when there is a final concession; a concession that cannot be revoked; a concession that is strategically decisive.
