Guess it happened a while ago, some time in 2005 I think, but I was watching Fox News tonight when I finally caught the CSPAN episode where former NC State University professor Kamau Kambon advocated exterminating white people. Hey, I thought, I almost attended NCSU! Damn, my ex girlfriend was right, I did miss out on a quality edumacation!

Hannity and Colmes has been following up on the story the last couple of days and I just happened to be flipping the channels tonight when I caught the nutty CSPAN footage. I found it mildly interesting so I paused to watch, at least long enough to determine whether it was something I needed to protect the people I love from.

Nope, just another nut. But now, in the Hannity and Colmes follow up piece, this nut is being empathized with and defended by other nuts from talk radio (wait-a-minute, CNN always says talk radio is full of white racists) and by angry "New Black Panther Party" muslims. But when I realized how long ago it had happened, I was amazed that I had heard nothing about it. Surely, if the Michael Richards a.k.a. Kramer episode went on for weeks on all major news networks, threatening his career and forcing him to apologize on late night television, then when a man who is not just a comedian - a man who taught at a large state sponsored university - is actually advocating exterminating an entire race on CSPAN, and being applauded... surely a story like this one would get some press too. Right?

I guess not, because I never heard about it back when it happened. Guess the CNNs, NBCs, ABCs, CBSs, and others all deemed this story wasn't newsworthy, not to mention it would probably interfere with their white shame theme - can't let that happen, white shame is one of the core messages underlying far too many of their stories. Besides, who cares - Britney's crotch might be itching again! LOL

So I guess exterminating white people is ok. I'm kinda glad those stories don't make the news. Thank goodness I can now peacefully flip back to ABC/NBC/CBS/CNN/NYT/ETC, where between blurred Britney crotch shots, I'll learn all about the KKK and how evil the Crusades were.

I guess he could start with Britney (ha ha)
I hadn't heard about it but for the reasons you mentioned had also never heard of this before.
I can agree that the reporting on "race" related issues appears to be one sided, and especially more so in southern states.
I am subjected to the Atlanta area news for local fare and it seems that every night there is something related to black empowerment, how the "man" (who in the Atlanta area is black as well) is getting over on them and are all racist.
I personally do not and never felt "white shame". None of my ancestors ever owned slaves nor operated in the trade so I don't feel I have anything to feel shame for.
After 140+ years of freedom I'm tired of hearing about how people of color do not have a chance.
There is an apparent double standard in the black culture that they act one way but caucasians are held to a more restricted standard.
I am happy to see black leaders come forward and begin to state openly that the "N" word is inappropriate in all circles but I believe they need do more.
I applaud Bill Cosby for calling his people to task for there own shortcomings though he has taken a great deal of flack for it.
It has been my experience that racisim and to a greater extent prejudice (because you can be and have prejudices and still not be truly racist) is everywhere. Including in the black community.
Sorry Nelson I can't stand to watch Fox for very long, always reminds me too much of a never ending documentary of hyenas tearing apart an impala.
Please keep us informed on further progress of this story.

Shazbat looks like you and I are in total agreement on this. I too applaud Bill Cosby for taking a stand, trying to do the right thing, but I am saddened when he is villified for doing so by people who seem threatened by his message of self sufficiency.

What's funny is, I have talked about racial issues before on other boards, and if I say anything that even remotely makes sense (ok so it's rare) the response is almost always "easy for a middle class white guy to say." Well, I really resent being called middle class :p.
