Comments anyone? Don't be shy.
I wish that there was this new found willingness to be bipartisan in previous years when President Bush didn't feel he had the upper hand.
There was food for thought here and no hot-button issues that have no real relevence.
I think both sides should carefully consider the issues carefully and not just vote poll results and popularity.
I think there is potential for really making some far reaching legislation here.
While admittedly I have never liked the President I now find myself very middle of the road here and am willing to consider many of his suggestions no matter how currently popular or unpopular they are.

We know the president has never been a polished speaker. That said, I thought his State of the Union address went very well. He didn't stammer, his ideas came across clearly, and I think some of them are pretty good. I'd like to see discussion about each of them individually.

Unfortunately I think opposition candidates and the whole opposing party are already posturing for the presidential elections in 2008. So instead of evaluating ideas objectively, hoping to promote our country's continued growth and development, the Democrat party will seek to capitalize on public feelings against the president that the media has invested years in constructing. At this point I think the opposing party will oppose almost anything the President suggests - because the President suggested it.
