Don't know how many if any of you are keeping up with this story but the synopsis of it is that this filmmaker...the same guy that made Chinatown and Rosemarys Baby...forced himself on a teenage back in the 70s. He fled the country and was finally arrest in Zurich when he attempted to attend a film festival of some time. Hollywood types are petitioning for his release based on his status as a really good filmmaker and nevermind his sexual assualt on a teenager.

"Showing how out of touch many Hollywood filmmakers continue to be with mainstream values, a large group of Hollywood bigshots are showing their support for releasing famed director Roman Polanski from prison."

Liberal columnist Eugene Robinson had this to say about it:

"Much has been made of the fact that Polanski's victim, now 45, has said she no longer feels any anger toward him and does not want to see him jailed. But it's irrelevant what the victim thinks and feels as a grown woman. What's important is what she thought and felt at age 13, when the crime was committed. Those who argue that there's something unjust about Polanski's arrest are essentially accepting his argument that it's possible for a 13-year-old girl, under the influence of alcohol and drugs, to "consent" to sex with a man in his 40s. Or maybe his defenders are saying that drugging and raping a child is simply not such a big deal."

They should have got his ass back when he ran many years ago.

Here's what I heard. He plea bargained a deal with the prosecutor and then the prosecutor pulled the plea and polanski fled.

In any event this isn't Iran where it's condoned to marry and rape girls. This is America and morals still mean something here. (unless you're a liberal)

Our future is our children and they must be protected at all costs whenever or wherever or in any way they are threatened, or attacked. I say Hang the bastard and do it publicly to send a strong message.

IMHO the running and hiding and not doing the time for the crime should mean that he spends the rest of his days having bubba pushing his stool up every day. Have you ever read what he did to the 13 year old girl?

i think it is universal that he should be thrown in jail or killed.... but for the few who would argue his release(tt im sure).... i just don't understand them.

That would be a hollywood producer. They are like politicians and think laws and rules and ethics are for others.

I used to make fun of the 23 year old fly boys that would pick up high school girls, at least they were only using their job, money, and flashy cars....being who he was with his money, and STILL having to use alcohol and drugs, is way beyond sad.... to top it off, he sodomized her, there's no way in hell that didn't mess her up.

No defense for what he did. He needs to pay the price. That the libs defend him is no surprise. In their world of "situational ethics" there is no right or wrong and no absolutes.

Look guys this is nothing new. Look at the way Hollyweird defended repeated child molester Michael Jackson or ax murderer OJ. Look at how many of them are known drug addicts, yet the DEA never busts down their doors. They think they are above the law and our society has coddled them in such a way that there is no reason for them not to think so.

They are going to get him off in the end. It's the way those people work, they will pressure anyone involved to say it wasn't so bad for him to drug and sodomize a 13 year old girl. I wonder which of them would be the first to let their 13 year old daughter go to one of his parties?

In any other situation these hypocrites would be thumping their chests championing "womens rights", "battered women", "womens right to choose", "women victims of rape", etc., etc. In this case they are saying, "the 13 year old girl asked for it".

That's how they got him in the first place!

Hopefully they will prevent the scum from getting off again.

That pervert thumbed his nose at the courts and America for all these years. He deserves a lifetime supply of soap-on-the-rope for that, alone.

Or maybe "Rope on the Neck" would be more appropriate.

nope a more appropriate sentence would be no soap on a rope and be in jail with all bubba's
