"news" story today that a white dallas cowboys cheerleader dressed up as rapper "lil" wayne and painted her skin brown to look like the rapper for halloween. Apparently the media keeps using the term "blackface". I thought blackface had a very distinct look to it, black skin, painted white or red lips, etc. like really over the top looking?? I really don't see a problem with this personally. I dont really care if a black person makes their skin white to look like a white celeb or vice versa. The wayan's brothers can make a movie called "white chicks", but im pretty sure there can never be a movie called "black chicks".
What gets me worse is that the media even makes this a story. How is this news? How is this important enough to go interviewing people on the street to ask them if they think it's offensive???
Here is a photo of the cheerleader:

"Blackface" is in reference to early silent films where producers opted to black out white actors with shoe polish rather than have actual black actors on screen. A prominent example would be a famous piece about a Jazz musician although the title escapes me at the moment. In any case, it is my opinion that racism actually has a lot to do with intent. Was the cheerleaders choice in costume politically correct? No. Was it racist? I see no reason to think so.

PC is one of the worst things to happen to the media. I can understand not throwing around slurs and stuff in the workplace, but should a cheerleader or anyone be outcast for a halloween costume?? This one wasn't even in bad taste. Its not like she was dressed up as a Klan member burning crosses.....

I agree with you both as far as my own opinions go, but I've learned you can paint an extremely broad stroke on what the media considers politically incorrect. Bottom line is that they will paint someone as a racist for almost nothing at all; this is the case here. I mean no one said anything about her dressing up as a man, which I assume JZ is.
Ya'll are obviously all racist!:rofl

Redskins??? They still have a team? They should just let their cheerleaders play...at least theyd get some people to watch.

Well, someone has to dispel the myth of fair-weather fans. But it's been a tough few years. Beating Dallas is the only possible highlight of this year looks like but we'll take it when it happens. :).
And we always have our memories!
