I am somewhat agog at see candidate Obama show up in my home state of WVA to make a recent televised speech to firm up his personal image related to "patriotism" wearing of all things the American flag lapel pin that he has publically disdained for so long.
It appears to be "patriotism of convenience".
Sorry Barak, but do I have "Idiot" tatooed on my forehead. Not!

The meat head we have now wears the pin and we've seen his patriotism so it really doesn't matter ...does it?

I believe it does, as an example of his charachter it troubles me that he would go against previous publically stated personal opinion and ideals and reinvent himself to cater to a supposedly (likely) gullible public.
Had he just made the speech without the pin and stuck to his "guns" (perhaps a poor choice of words considering his viewpoint) and commented that he doesn't need symbols to prove himself, I could at least had some repect for that.
As it is I now find him to yet another shallow, manipulative politician.
And while It wasn't my intention to vote for him anyway I now have no repect for him either.

As for the current meat head, it is difficult to see what his legacy will be or how history will paint him.
I think initially not as favorably as he would like, yet as with many another late president time seems to soften public opinion with the years.
