I have to agree, the people you name are dire threats to anyone who is not a muslim underling. Not sure how to address the situation, outside of supporting the nation of Israel because their intelligence is going to be better than ours. If and when Israel decides to make a strategic move, it will be in their own interest of survival, not in effort to eliminate a nation or a people - as is the state motive in Iran.

Khamenei is a threat for the world & Ahadinejad too
-------------------------------
In Iran.all sites are blocked and we should By pass proxy to use websites same as China.
Iranian like regime change (specially intellectual persons - in efferent standard of life).
but Khamenei as leader don't like resign.because like put his son(Mr.Mojtaba Khamenei) instead of his self and use Ahmadinejad (As marionette for IRG and His son ) to reach to this objectives.
Iranian Green Movement Need to fresh atmospherics and need freedom.
Most of population are young people, (20 -35 years).
but regime of Iran block everything for all people.
if u go out with your Girlfriend is prohibit and maybe go to the prison or whiplash.
All things are Prohibit instead of pray and bless for Khamenei.
Everybody is guilty unless can prove he/she is not.
In other country police forces are sign of immunity for common people but in Iran u must keep yourself far from them because maybe they put u in trouble for money or they shortcomings.
Khamenei and Ahmadinejad and his supporters( Basiji group and IRG) like keep
regime to send Fundamental Islam(maby 98% of Iranian are sober muslem and love Other people) but they like hostage West Country By Nuclear boom in future if Iranian people and other Country (can't or don't want) stop them.
Khamenei and his system is same as Hitler by small Brain and huge goals.(This group of persons
are very small but have gun and money of sale oil and can kill others for Power and believes )
----------
we are in the street /facebook/twitter/ in special government days/places to show our wants
----------
We deiced about our programmers(Green Movement) here:
English : www.balatarin.com/en Farsi: www.balatarin.com

and then

in Iran
Governmental channels (IRIB) shown everything vice versa.
IRIB search for dark points of USA for showing to others to say USA is bad and best place in The world is Iran And this government is the best.
But all of them, like go USA for Mission For long time and if they can, they like to Migrate.USA is bad but just for iranian common people.they love to give Passport of USA for their family.
for example Ayatollah Vaez Tabarsi (Jack of all trades in Mashhad city )
send his (Daughter in law) for born his baby in USA to obtain your Passport.
------------
but Iranian green movement Youth know every things about your system.
About : election/Delegates /state/culture/presidents and first ladies and parties and habits.
------------
your people must pray each day 1000time for democracy and secularism.
------------
because we lost some persons just for Hijab or alcohol-drink our his opinions.
------------
Iranian Love G.W.B more than Obama.
because bush say some things and then did it.
but Obama say but never do .
---------------
iranian like obama don't sit behind the table with iranian government representations about nuclear energy because Human right is more important.
and if we have democratic system.other problem with west will be solve.

but this system and regime can make other problems after Nuclear energy , to make fuss again and again.

Root of Problems in Middle east is Iranian Government and other things are
nonsenses.
------------
we know : Iranian regime put bomb in the side of road in Afghanistan and Iraq and kill other persons in some western country.
But i don't know why western country like connivance , just for Oil of Iran.
Human right and live of soldiers of USA is more important than Money.

Hopefully a majority of your population will do as we did in our own American Revolution when we kicked King George and his huge Army and Navy back to their bloody island with a message to the Queen! This is our land and we choose to live free because God gave us the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happinss...not the bloody QUEEN! I wish that our President would have continued to support your movement as previous administrations did to bring down the Berlin Wall and destroy the USSR and the Iron Curtain!
The good news is that if we could bring down the Communist in the Soviet Union with our persistent spread of freedom and blocking their spread of Marxism, you and your citizens can win your freedom from tyranny!

If we didn't have a fool for a leader over here, we would have helped overthrow Iran's sick gov by now. It seems both the USA and Iranian leaders have irogant dictator types in power right now. In reality, and I'm sad to say our leader probably idolizes the iranian leaders, in particular, "the all high spiritual leader" who ackmandenajed reports too. Keep the faith though. Light eventually cuts down all darkness!

Is this sabre rattleing or a credible threat?

Supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said on Monday that Iran is set to deliver a "punch" that will stun world powers during this week's 31st anniversary of the Islamic revolution.
"The Iranian nation, with its unity and God's grace, will punch the arrogance (Western powers) on the 22nd of Bahman (February 11) in a way that will leave them stunned," Khamenei, who is also Iran's commander-in-chief, told a gathering of air force personnel.

I wish you and yours the best. With luck and effort your generation will know what freedom feels like and once you do, I pray that you can look toward America as a positive indicator that vigilance is continually needed in order to maintain freedom....and not as an example of what happens when everyone grows lazy and complacent. Guys, who is it that said freedom is only one generation away from extinction? I can't remember off the top of my head, but it wouldn't take long to go from where we are to where you are, but at the same time no one here truly knows what you guys are going through because our generations haven't had it that bad.

According to HRANA, three members of the Basij militia misused their ID cards in the city of Tabriz to abduct, beat, assault, rape, and kill a young woman with a gun. They dumped her body in the outskirts of the city. The news has stirred a lot of emotional reactions from the public.

Based on information obtained by HRANA reporters, after Elnaz Babazadeh went missing, her family reported the disappearance to all official Iranian government agencies. After a week-long search, her body was delivered to the family by the coroner’s office while the coroner, after examining the body, confirmed assault, battery, rape, and murder by shooting. The police announced that the body was discovered near Emamieh Cemetery in Tabriz.

After the family filed a complaint against the murder of their daughter [demanding to press charges], the police arrested three citizens from Tabriz who are active members of the Basij [militia]. The main suspect and defendant confessed to all the above-mentioned charges in the police station. The defendant stated he entered the vehicle of the young woman in Tabriz’s Valiasr neighbourhood under the pretext of “*ordering to what is known to be virtuous”, and to give a notice to the young woman for “bad hijab”, in the context of the hijab and chastity program undertaken by the police and the Basij forces. The defendant then used his firearm to threaten the woman. The police forced her to drive to the outskirts of the city. That is where they raped her. Then, she died from three gun shots to the chest.

It is reported that the main suspect of the case is currently held by the Islamic Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) due to the sensitivity of the issues involved.

*It is an Islamic obligation that requires everyone to invite people to do the right thing. It is used by the Taliban, the government of Saudi Arabia, and the Iranian Islamic regime to justify interference with various aspects of the lives of citizens; for example, the way they dress, their involvement in intimate relationships, and private gatherings they hold.

A Letter by Majid Dori from Exile: “The Behbahani People Have Broken My Solitude”
------------------------
November 2, 2010 – Majid Dori, the imprisoned *starred student banned from continuing his education, was recently exiled from Evin to Behbahan prison, a [location] that is one thousand kilometers away from the residence of his parents. Majid will now have to complete the remaining five years of his prison sentence in Behbahan. In his latest letter, however, Majid does not speak of the thousand kilometers distance between him and his parents. Instead, he informed them that he is not alone.

Majid told his family that he no longer feels alone; that he is amongst the warm and kindhearted Behbahani’s who are happy to meet a freedom-fighting student activist and have accepted him with open arms. Though Majid Dori has traveled kilometers, he cries out loud: “I am not a stranger here, I don’t feel as though I am in exile. I salute you from behind the thick walls of Behbahan prison and say: “I too am a Behbahani. The citizens of Behbahan have accepted me with open arms.”

According to Kaleme, the complete content of Majid Dori’s letter is as follows:

The Behbahani People Have Broken My Solitude

May he who stands in the way of you and I becoming us, see his home destroyed;

In the name of freedom; the freedom which I roared and for which I was deprived of a right to eduction;

In the name of freedom; the freedom which I screamed and for which I was imprisoned;

In the name of freedom; the freedom which I uttered and for which I was sent to exile…

In the name of freedom; the freedom that once tasted, [now] makes you immune to chains, imprisonment, exile and execution;

I salute freedom! I salute the innocent blood that was shed in its pursuit;

I salute the lives we lost for the cause of freedom.

On Saturday morning, they transferred me from Evin to Behbahan prison. I have been charged with Moharebeh “enemy of God” and sentenced in Judge PirAbasi’s courtroom; a courtroom where my lawyers and I were deprived of the opportunity to present a defense.

Receiving the Moharebeh sentence evokes fear in any human being. I became a Mohareb because I refused to live like an animal. If defending the right to education, the undeniable and inalienable right of every individual is waging war against God, then I am a Mohareb. If helping political prisoners, if showing compassion and sympathy toward their families is waging war against God, then I am a Mohareb. If publishing the names of those who have been killed and arrested and obtaining legal representation for those who have been arrested without cause and taken to undisclosed locations by unknown individuals is waging war against God, then I am a Mohareb. Yes, I am a Mohareb. No matter when or where, I am proud to be a Mohareb; this war is worth fighting as it is in the pursuit of freedom.

Do you believe that if people hear that I have provided comfort to families of political prisoners, supported a lonely prisoner, and published the names of those who have been killed and arrested, then they will belittle and humiliate me? Do you truly believe that incarceration and exile can stand in the way of humanity?

Those who came to power as a result of fraud, lies and denial and have entrenched themselves through suppression and intimidation will resort to anything in order to remain in power. Those who view every humane act as evil, every critical thought as an act by a Mohareb, and every innovative idea as destructive have no choice but to use endless suppression as a tool to silence the masses.

Here is to a new dawn that will bury the darkness in the dungeons of history, ensuring that the perpetrators of these crimes are brought to justice. May God help those who must stand before the people tomorrow and be accountable for their inhumane acts. If only they would at minimum adhere to the slogans they chant to others and the laws they so often make references to; if only they would practice what they preach and what they claim to be legal.

I have now been transferred to Behbahan prison in southern Iran, a prison that lacks medical and cultural facilities. When I first arrived I never believed that I would be able to continue, to endure the conditions in a prison where prisoners co-exist regardless of their crimes. I didn’t think I could survive in a prison where there are no political prisoners, where most prisoners have committed crimes such as murder, drug trafficking and theft. I thought I would be alone and out of place…

But the warm and familiar voices of the Behbahani’s warmed the frozen blood in my veins. When the Behbahani’s came to the prison gate on visitation day and asked to see me, the thousand kilometer distance between me and my family was no longer unbearable.

I was no longer alone. I no longer feel as though I am in exile. Today from behind the thick walls of this prison I pay my respect to every single one of them and say to my parents, “Father, mother, I am not alone here. My Behbahani fathers, mothers, brothers and sisters shattered my feeling of loneliness and exile. I can now proudly cry out, I too am a Behbahani! The citizens of Behbahan have accepted me with open arms. I salute their honor and dignity!”

I look forward to the day that as a result of our efforts and suffering, you and I become us…..

Majid Dori

November 2010 Behbahan Prison

Edited by Maryam NY: *Editor’s Note: The system of issuing stars against students was developed by Iran’s Ministry of Advanced Education so students with disciplinary issues would get penalized. After a student collects a certain number of stars, he or she is banned from education. The system is primarily used against student activists.

Greetings to Mr. Barack Obama, the President of the United States of America,

31 years ago on this day, students who claimed to act in the name of Imam Khomeini forcefully seized the United States Embassy in Iran, thereby violating international law and American property. This illegitimate seizure marked the beginning of increased conflict and severe differences between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States of America and consequently led to amplified diplomatic tensions between the two countries.

Today, three decades later, after all relations between the two governments have been suspended, the nuclear ambitions of the Islamic Republic of Iran [is] a [threat]. Additionally, the [current] regime in Iran oppresses its people more than ever. It has impeded any domestic opposition toward its dangerously destructive policies.

We would like to emphasize that the publicly known human rights record of these autocrats is so openly horrendous that further explanation should not be necessary.

More than ever before, freedom fighters and freedom thinkers around the world have made evident the tortures, imprisonment, and murder of Iranian citizens. They have raised concerns about this government that disrespects the people’s fundamental rights so blatantly. What if such a government gains access to nuclear weapons? What would they do to the people of this world?

Mr. President,

31 year ago on this day, the Islamic Republic of Iran took American diplomats as hostages, thereby taking the world as their hostage. For 31 years they have continued down this destructive path. Today, at least two US citizens (Josh Fattal and Shane Bauer) suffer as hostages of this government. Also, more than 80 students, our friends and classmates, are currently held in various prisons across Iran. We regard them as ‘university hostages’.

Honorable Mr. President Obama,

It is the situation of our imprisoned friends that prompts us to directly address you on the anniversary of the occupation of the United States embassy. Instead of studying in a classroom, the Iranian youth must persevere in a prison cell and sometimes endure solitary confinement while constantly [enduring] the most inhumane pressures.

As the President of the United States of America and as a Nobel Peace Prize laureate, we expect you to continuously and fervently observe the systematic human rights violations in our country, in addition to your rightful concern about the Islam Republic of Iran’s nuclear ambitions. We call upon you to not hesitate to employ any means of leverage necessary to stop these atrocities.

While you closely monitor the situation of the current American hostages in Iran, we, a group of former and current student activists, diligently and persistently ask you to also observe the situation of our fellow Iranian students taken hostage by the Islamic Republic of Iran and question the motives of the regime’s authoritarian rulers in regards to these hostages.

We specifically demand humanitarian efforts by the international community and call for increased pressure to attain the immediate release of the below mentioned social and student activists:

Hamed Rouhinejad, Kouhyar Goodarzi, Majid Dori, Majid Tavakoli, Shabnam Madadzadeh, Zia Nabavi (all six are currently held in a horrible situation, forced into exile), Abbas Kakaiee, Abdollah Momeni, Abed Tavancheh, Aidin Khajei, Ali Jamali, Ali Malihi, Atefeh Nabavi, Arman Reza Khani, Arsalan Abadi, Bahareh Hedayat, Emad Bahavar, Foad Sojoodi, Hassan Assadi Zeidabadi, Heshmatollah Tabarzadi, Javad Ali khani, Kiarash Kamrani, Mahdieh Golroo, Masoud Babapour, Mehdi Khodaei, Mehdi Nezam Eslami, Milad Asadi, Mohammad Pourabdollah, Mohammad Amin Valian, Naeim Aghaiee, Navid Mohebbi, Nezam Hassanpour, Nima Nahvi, Ronak Saffarzadeh, Sina Golchin.

We believe that the time has come for the government of the United States to forget the bitter experiences of Sunday November 4, 1979, and stand beside the people of Iran in order to achieve a peaceful life under the wings of a government born of popular vote.

We believe that it is time for the United States government to move past the bitter memories of November 4th, 1979 and by the side of the Iranian people in order to achieve a peaceful life under the wings of a government born of true popular vote.

Respectfully yours,

Signatures:

The Flight of the Patriot
By Yadi Sharifirad. Thomas Allen, 265 pp, $29.95, hardcover

Death to the Dictator!
By Afsaneh Moqadam. Sarah Crichton Books, 160 pp, $22, hardcover

Don’t try suggesting to Vancouver resident Yadi Sharifirad that there are any moderate politicians in Iran.

In an interview with the Georgia Straight in a West End Starbucks, the former Iranian fighter pilot scoffs at the idea.

“I believe it’s a game,” Sharifirad says of last year’s power struggle between Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and his chief opponent, Mir-Hossain Mousavi. “I don’t believe any of them.”

The author of The Flight of the Patriot: Escape from Revolutionary Iran has come to discuss his autobiography in advance of the Saturday (June 12) anniversary of the 2009 Iranian presidential election, which launched a wave of street protests.

They came amid accusations that the country’s Guardian Council—comprised of six religious leaders and six judges—had rigged the results in favour of Ahmadinejad.

For a man who has suffered indescribable hardship, Sharifirad seems remarkably upbeat, laughing about how he became a national hero in the early 1980s after surviving a plane crash on his 40th mission in his country’s war against Iraq.

From 1983 to 1986, he served as the military attaché at the Iranian embassy in Pakistan, working alongside Mousavi’s younger brother, who was the ambassador.

After Sharifirad returned to Tehran, his life took an abrupt turn. As The Flight of the Patriot describes, he was scooped off the street for no apparent reason on December 30, 1987, by plainclothes security officials, blindfolded in the back of a car, and taken to prison.

He ended up in a disgusting, two-square-metre cell, where he was often allowed bathroom privileges only twice a day. Mousavi was Iran’s prime minister during this period.

In his book, Sharifirad states that early in his incarceration he was taken to a room, ordered to sit at a desk, and confess in writing to his links with the CIA.

A fanatically religious prison guard made no secret of his contempt for Sharifirad, an articulate, well-mannered member of the Iranian elite.

Not long after, the torture began. He describes it vividly, as if it happened just last week.

“I can’t explain how painful it is,” Sharifirad says. “You can’t even count the number of floggings that you feel.”

The first beatings came on the soles of his feet while his guards accused him of being an American spy.

Later, his entire body was thrashed. He thinks he survived only out of love for his family.

“Many, many times I wanted to die,” Sharifirad admits.

He’ll never forget being tossed back into solitary confinement, knowing there would be another torture session coming soon.

“You have to imagine yourself in that situation to understand how painful it is,” he adds.

He was sentenced to 10 years in prison, but was released less than a year later. He remained under constant surveillance as his family fled to Canada.

In 1993, Sharifirad crossed the border into Turkey and was allowed to immigrate to Vancouver.

Of course, tales of torture in Iran are nothing new. Nobel Peace Prize winner Shirin Ebadi’s 2006 memoir, Iran Awakening: From Prison to Peace Prize—One Woman’s Struggle at the Crossroads of History (Vintage Canada), describes how the judiciary perverts Islamic teaching to justify repression.

Ebadi, a lawyer, represented the family of Iranian-Canadian photojournalist Zahra Kazemi, who died after being taken into custody in Tehran in 2003, presumably after being tortured
