Me too, I didn't click either.
Sorry I wasn't aware people could even send a PM until they had been verified. I corrected that this morning. 99% of new registrations are just spammers, we check each and every one against spam list before any are validated.

Welllllll, i got it to, what the hell is the link to?
I completely deleted the account this morning. If you get PM's from anyone you don't know don't open it. I didn't get the PM and the link I was sent didn't work. Of course I use linux so I thumb my nose at their virus.

Possibly load malware into your computer.
No one should send you any kind of link on this forum unless you know them. I use the never follow a link unless I can choke the person that sent me the link if it's bad rule. :)

I got it too, did not click, figured it a scam or a link to virus site.
BTW,
OPM got it's EMAIL system hacked again, it's system was sending Rogue emails to other Gov systems, we were told to -NOT- open anything from OPM until they can screen & filter the emails.

Time to make sure you have updated everything on your WIN systems.
As well as several add on software Apps.

With natural disasters, world general unrest, it is prime time for cyber warfare to get a kick off while attentions are diverted.
Be ever vigilant!

I've received 3 from different "people", all of them generated through this site. This is quite bothersome
Steve
Well last night they simply changed to coppa users which are below age so they could register as a new group. I have now plugged that hole. No one hates spammers more then I do and they make doing anything that is interactive almost impossible and not worth the time these days.

Think I got the same spam you did from the same 3 people.

Your saying you got spam emails from this forum or you got emails to notify you of PM's that were spam?

Logged on this morning, three new PMs in the inbox all with a link telling me the same thing as the first PM yesterday. Guess that fits under spam from people who registered with this forum.

PM's are not the same as emails IMHO. I do everything I can to plug the holes and stop people from doing it. Anyone that wants their accounts removed just say the word.
And for anyone that has never run a server on the net there are thousands of hack attempts and spam attempts every day to a server.

You're right...email is not the same as PMs...realized what I had typed afterwards and edited my post. Wasn't dogging you out in any way because I got spammed along with a bunch of other regulars. Shit happens like that...all of us know it. Posting to contribute potentially useful info in the relevent thread. Don't think anyone here doubts you or your efforts to maintain a clean running forum so please don't take it that way; quite the opposite I believe most if not all of us are grateful that you maintain and operate this forum in the manner in which you do.

Thanks Max. I appreciate what you do for this site and I know the regular posters on here do too. Spammers are even lower than Libs...and that is pretty low. (Grin)

And then some. My company's primary mail gateways average between 1.0 and 1.2 million message attempts per day. Out of that about 22,000 are clean. The rest are spam/virus/pfishing.

You have that so right, I don't think people realize just how much trash traffic is on the net. They teach hacking 101 in many Chinese schools these days so from trying to get port 25 to spam or steal an IP to trying to attack port 21 for full control to you name it. Then when you run a script like a forum which means you have to allow some access and they are constantly looking for any kind of a flaw in the software or setup.

got 4 pms of spam.....Chinese teaching hacking in school? Why was it we outsource our technology manufacturing to our "friends" the Chinese?

What are the dates on them? I should have all the holes plugged as of now.
