Pat Robertson says a "pact to the devil" brought on the devastating earthquake in Haiti. This, of course, is worthy of its own CNN news story, and massive press coverage from literally every outlet.
Pat Robertson says Haiti paying for 'pact to the devil'
http://www.cnn.com/2010/US/01/13/haiti.pat.robertson/index.html
Danny Glover says "When we see what we did at the climate summit in Copenhagen, this is the response, this is what happens, you know what I’m sayin?" This, of course, gets virtually no news coverage.

Who is right? Is this disaster God's retribution against Haiti for their pact with the devil? Or against us all for our inability to take control of the climate? Both ?? Neither?

Mama always said stupid is as stupid does.
It is the fault of the people that allow dictators to run their lives. This is not a story about a terrible earthquake because it was not much stronger than the one that hit Ca. It is however a story about how a corrupt country run by thugs forever, build shitty structures and shanty towns that crumble under nature. It is proof positive that throwing billions of dollars at a small island want change a thing! We have sent enough money to Haiti over the decades that it's small population could have all been rich if we had just given each of them the money. Just as in America, the good intentions of the left does nothing to help a people except keep them dependant instead of independant! As a people we are all responsible for our own lives and when we work together with a truly righteous foundation...we can always rebuild and survive any calamity!

Good points, Jeb.
And, Nelson, to your original question regarding Robertson, I hate to see these kind of comments being made by a so-called Christian leader. It is simply one guy's opinion and as we have seen, the MSM will spin it to reflect the attitude of conservative Christians as a group. I know lots of conservative Christians, but not one who agrees with him. Haiti's issues revolve around matters of its own making, as Jeb explained. It has nothing to do with God turning His back on them. Here is an article that pretty well articulates my view on this issue and I believe the view of most conservative Christians.

Did God distroy sodom an gamora, did he distroy life on this planet by flood, is it beyond reason to think he might destroy a land where voodoo is their main relidgen? Where aids is rampant? Just sayin.......maybe it should be considered. If you believe in the King James version of the bible, i think it's quite possible. I think the pundits are trying to be politicly correct. At some point the christens are going to have to make a stand. Why not now?
I do believe in the KJV for sure and I believe we are seeing the forerunner of the One World Government starting to form around the EU! I also see America killing 40,000,000 unborn children and selling their stem cell to the highest bidder! I see homosexual and heterosexual perversion reaching an all time high with no taboos left. I see economics systems crumbling as the chaos waits in the wings to set the groundwork for some false saviour to step out on the world stage and save us all!

You all need to check out a new movie, "The Book of Eli".
Plenty of action....more than Marie really desires to see, but she held through it since it had a biblical them.
May have too...and "Legion" looks cool!

Just like Fox News makes a huge deal of out Harry Reid's (off-the-record - but sadly out of touch) comments about Barack Obama's race and its effects on his electability?
The difference is, of course, that I've yet to hear a single African American (other than Michael Steele, who is playing his own particular brand of race card) actually complain about Reid's comments. Reid's use of the word "negro" might indicate that he is out of touch, but they hardly indicate a deep level of racism.
Obviously, nobody seriously thinks that Robertson's comments reflect the views of mainstream Christians, conservative or otherwise. I think that most liberals view them, at best, as the words of a televangelist who seems to think his particular viewpoint ought to dictate United States policy.
The problem with Robertson is this: This isn't the first stupid, bigoted, and hateful statement he's issued. He's managed to suggest dropping a nuclear weapon on the US State Department; suggested that Tampa deserves to be hit with a hurricane; prayed for the death of Supreme Court Justices; and that the US ought to assasinate Hugo Chavez.
It may come as a huge shock to some of you, but a very large percentage of American liberals are also deeply religious: there are Catholics, Protestants, and Jews - among others. The difference is that American liberals tend to view their religious faith as something personal - between them and their family, and God. Not a tool with which they ought to dictate how other people live their lives. Christian liberals - for instance - are guided by Jesus' teachings regarding charity towards their fellow man. Meaning that they use their faith to guide them in making charitable donations to aid in earthquake relief - rather than providing a sickening and cynical condemnation of poor people who have suffered a natural disaster.

TT, you and I agree on Robertson -- he is a wild card. I do argue that Christian Liberals (and Liberals in general) are very guilty of what you are blaming on Conservatives -- dictating how others should live their lives. Hence, the willingness to spend others' money on "helping the poor" (i.e., Great Society and other tax and spend policies) and the various other restrictions placed on our individual freedoms by a large, centralized bureaucracy.

Yep, it started with that audience with old Barney last year and suddenly TT's ramblings are making sense. I'm going back to a meeting with Barney in a few weeks and the transformation will be complete. I'm thinking of selling all my goods and giving the money to the Democrat Party and putting an Obama sticker on my car. You might want to set up an intervention.:D

Check out some of the wacko comments Danny Glover has made linking the Haitian earthquake to the climate conference (i.e., global warming caused the earthquake). Unlike Robertson's comments, this has gone largely unreported by the MSM. Now tell me there isn't a double standard?

Yep, didn't Glover go hang out with Chavez and Castro..with Belafonte? Maybe I'm getting mixed up on my Hollywood anti-capitalist (irony as well as hypocracy there) schmucks.
Can't believe we're footing the bill for their shoddy construction....just keep throwing the money we don't have at people, and hope someone likes us? good plan....
