This weekend we are celebrating our 34th wedding anniversary and have been spreading the celebration out over this long weekend (MLK holiday for bankers). Took my wife to Ruths Chris Steakhouse last night and to Toledo Museum of Art today to see the Chihuly glass sculpture exhibit. Planning on a trip to the indoor range tomorrow. In between these events, while I should be hanging out with her, I've been lurking here with my computer and Blackberry. She finally called me out on it and I told her I can't let TT blather on without a response or assure Cajun that I haven't totally gone to the dark side. So I went down to let out the dogs, and I'm back on here again. Addiction comes in many forms....

You Should Tell Her To Get On More

My wife posting on this site? Her IQ is higher than TT's and mine combined. But sadly she has other interests which don't include internet political forums.

LOL, you know there are two types of intelligence -- Intelligence Quotient (IQ) and Emotional Intelligence (EI). Daniel Goleman introduced a model that described how the following 4 factors influence one's EI:

1)Self-awareness — the ability to read one's emotions and recognize their impact while using gut feelings to guide decisions.
2)Self-management — involves controlling one's emotions and impulses and adapting to changing circumstances.
3)Social awareness — the ability to sense, understand, and react to others' emotions while comprehending social networks.
4)Relationship management — the ability to inspire, influence, and develop others while managing conflict.

It is my observation that EI is more important than IQ to a person's success and ability to live a balanced life. Often people with very high IQ's have problems with EI and therefore have problems dealing with others and in carrying on civil debates and conversations. Hi IQ/low EI individuals view themselves as smart but everyone who disagrees with them as dumb. They lack some combination of self awareness, self management, low social awareness and problems with relationships. I think we have seen examples of this very phenomenon on this forum.
