Obama Rejects Attackers' Cries of 'Socialism'
President Barack Obama launched a vigorous defense of his economic agenda Wednesday, rejecting critics who call his policies "socialism" and insisting he aims to boost U.S. competitiveness abroad.

Speaking to the Business Roundtable, which groups some of the country's top chief executives, Obama called for support of his administration's efforts to overhaul financial regulation and create jobs.

Obama's remarks were set against a backdrop of unease in the business community about his economic and budget policies as well as his legislative drive for healthcare, energy and financial regulatory reform.

"Contrary to the claims of some of my critics, I am an ardent believer in the free market," Obama said in prepared remarks.

Obama said his efforts to enact sweeping legislation to overhaul financial regulations and set caps on carbon emissions to fight climate change were not aimed at thwarting businesses.

"We have arrived at a juncture in our politics where reasonable efforts to update our regulations, or make basic investments in our future, are too often greeted with cries of 'government takeover' or even 'socialism'," Obama said.
"Getting this balance right has less to do with big government or small government than it does smart government. It's not about being anti-business or pro-government; it's about being pro-growth and pro-jobs," he said.

The president's agenda got a boost early on Wednesday from the U.S. Senate, which, in a relatively bipartisan vote, approved a $15 billion package of tax breaks and highway spending that aims to bring down the country's stubbornly high 9.7 percent unemployment rate.

The bill now goes to the House of Representatives, which could approve the measure quickly for Obama to sign into law.
Obama welcomed the Senate vote.

"This is an important step forward in putting more Americans back to work as soon as possible," he said. Obama and his fellow Democrats are determined to bring down the unemployment rate before congressional elections in November.

That idiot has absolutely no comprehension about what it takes to run a business, prepare a budget or meet a payroll. He has zero business experience, dining at the public trough his entire life. Every time he opens his mouth on these issues, he shows his ignorance. Business people I know loath his ill-founded policies and fear what he might do next. If he (and Reid/Pelosi) wonder why business investment is not rebounding faster, they need only look in the mirror.

If Americans didn't have memories, maybe some might believe the bull shit Obama is spewing.

Lets see.......... What was it that obama did that was anti-business? Hmmmm. Let me think.

Oh right.......

Obama screwed the Chamber of Commerce (the largest pro business organization in America) by NOT inviting their leadership to a job creation work secession. He also attacked the organization publicly.

Wasn't it obama who appointed a jobs czar who was an avowed communist?

Obama gag ordered an insurance company that disagreed with his health plan, along with threatening an investigation of the company.

Obama publicly demonizes wall street and banks on a regular basis, and staged protests at their private homes with the busing in of hundreds of union personnel.

Obama wants to redistribute the wealth of businesses to Acorn and others.

Isn't it obama who wants to set executive pay in the private sector?

Didn't obama put a man in charge of Obama's government motors with no auto manufacturing experience?

Didn't obama cause the cancellations of dozens of conventions scheduled for Las Vegas causing the loss of millions of dollars and thousands of jobs to the Las Vegas economy?

Isn't it Obama who believes if you make over 250k a year you are rich and deserve to be taxed more.

Doesn't Obama's health plan tax the crap out of small business which will cause the loss of millions of additional jobs?

Isn't it Obama who wants to pass a cap and trade energy scheme bill that will tax everyone and cause more losses of businesses and jobs.

Anyone who believes Obama is a free market president as he says he is, and after he's proven with his actions he is definitely not, must be brain dead, a complete fool, an obama supporting communist, or simply hates America.

Obama has already tripled the nation's deficit, and has America teetering on financial ruin.

Obama's right about one point. He isn't a socialist. Obama is an Obamist who is promoting OBAMAISM. A concoction of multiple oppressive governing systems including Socialism, Communism, Marxism, Fascism, and Draconianism.

I havn't yet heard how he has a plan to keep Americans working once they've gone back.We always here of the "solid foundation".Pumping billions into road repair and new bridges is not a solid foundation.
Looking into why companys that used to employ a thousand or so workers have laid everyone off and helping them get back on their feet while creating new companys that manufacture goods is a solid foundation.A solid foundation would be where an employee could actually think of holding a job within his or hers field long enough to pay the mortgage off for their homes.Hell, right now,to be able to pay off a 5 year car loan would be a good start. The plans he comes up with don't have enough financial future to allow most people to pay off this winters heating costs.

Through all these false stimulative bullshit promises, all I see him doing is buttering people up so he can grab some extra voters and to get them off his back long enough to get the wretched health bill passed into law.
