I was vocally opposed to the creation of Homeland Security from the beginning. I never understood the need for yet another government agency. The "selling point" GWB used was HS as the laision between all the other agencies. I didn't, and still don't buy it.

What brings this up for me is something I saw on the way home. A large white SUV with totally blacked out windows and blue writing stating: "HOMELAND SECURITY ENFORCEMENT AGENCY" Enforcement? WTF? When did they get the power to jump from laision to enforcement?

Anyone else find this odd? We know the powers and limitations of America's agencies, but this? I'm not seeing it as conspiritorial, but more of a "how did they get that kind of power"? It's a little disconcerting. What's next, the DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION ENFOCEMENT AGENCY?

From checking out their website, it looks like it's just INS, Customs, Coast Guard, Border Patrol, and a Counter Terrorism group, rolled under one umbrella.

The CT group has me slightly worried, as what is construed as "terrorism" varies...

Would you believe they also have a Motor Division!!!!!
I met one of a rare few DHS Motor Officers, has a nice FLHTP.

These guys are the overseer's of security at most federal facilities, though we have a lot of sub-contract security officers performing entry security screenings at office buildings, these guys travel around the region making sure shit & airplanes do not hit buildings, cost effective ain't it......

One of our VROD brothers is ~one of these guys~ he is on the 1130cc forum, though he Lay's low. :gun:

We already had the FBI, Secret Service, CIA, Federal Marshals and NSA performing these functions. Why was another agency needed? Sure, we had failures of communication that caused 9/11, but that required a phone or email, not another bloated agency.

I agree, it appears to be a failed experiment.
