What the hell is wrong with the Republicans. Senator Bunning is doin the right thing by holding the extension of unemployment up. The congress an senate voted for pay-go and "O"boy signed it into law. Now there letting him twist in the wind, they should be front an center supporting him. They ain't got no damn spine.

I agree in principle but wish he'd picked a different topic to dig in on. Gave the lib press something to exploit. His home state major newspaper, louisville courier had headline something like "bunning blocks benefits for the poor, helpless, starving and sexually deprived unemployed. (I'm exagerating a little-but you get the idea.)

Yeah,,,i understand.:) What i don't understand is why the other Republicans are not standing up. This pay-go is a new Demarat rule, tell the public.

I'm out in DC this week on an industry lobbying trip. The timing is perfect because of the financial reform/consumer protection/too big to fail legislation which is suddenly and quickly moving forward. I'll post a report with some photos on the members only forum when I get home. But I will say that the layers of bureaucracy which have built up over the years seem so deeply entrenched that don't know if they can ever be eliminated.

Good article by Brunning...

After four legislative days of impasse, I reached a supposed deal with Majority Leader Reid to have an up-or-down vote on a pay-for amendment that would fully fund the legislation and not add to the debt. Only minutes before the vote, Democrats used a parliamentary maneuver to set aside my amendment and not vote on the actual substance of it. Only in Washington could this happen. The Democrats did not want to vote on my amendment because they knew they were in the wrong and ignored their own rules. Hypocrisy again rules the day in Washington.
