View Full Version : The Message or the Medium
I have wondered about this topic for a long time now. Are we getting what is important to us or are we being told what is important to us.

Interesting video. Think it is pretty clear that the younger people are getting their news from the likes of comedians like Colbert and Stewart. And as one of the guys said, they are liberally-biased.
I think many of us have instincts and discernment about what is right and wrong based on our values and experience and will align our viewing habits accordingly. The mainstream media has drifted so much to the left that my "B.S." meter goes off continuously. Conversely, Fox News usually aligns with my own experience regarding issues. Plus, they have prettier newscasters, as someone noted.:)

Pretty good video. People watch what they can relate to. When you see Andy Richter pummel Wolf Blitzer on Celebrity Jeopardy you can see that CNN has no credibility whatsoever. When you see Dan Rather talking about BO unable to sell watermelons... is it any wonder we turn to Fox?

This is an interesting video Dan and I'm sorry to say that so many have long watched this trend. Just think - it has taken the media decades to recognize the undeserving reverence they placed upon Walter Cronkite - meanwhile, other observers saw this immediately. In the latter quarter of the 20th century we watched the media move from a couple miles left of center to the far end of the spectrum. The media itself never realized this (in the vid they're still having a hard time grappling with it). But over time, to any intelligent observer, the movement becomes clear. At first, "news" just doesn't seem the same. Then you start to notice bullshit, and you realize the "news" is more about holding you than keeping you informed. Eventually you see all new society entertainment for what it really is - a lack of engagement. I think that is why Stewart, for instance, is so popular -there is no commitment necessary. People are able to watch him without really engaging in anything, certainly not any position or principle. The core message is: who cares? When I watch TV or listen to the radio and see/hear those stupid commentaries by old guys wearing makeup or trying to sound young and hip, I am saddened. Their audiences do not value observation or wisdom, they prefer superficiality and sarcasm. I think this is our weakness, and the new failure of western society, in a nutshell. People walk around in fear of real principle and objectivity.

You can watch a comedian, and have them form your opinions for you, or you can do your own research to help form your own opinions. It's much easier to follow a trend, than to set one.
None of the news channels broadcast the news, it's all editorial opinion nowadays. The left and the right put their spin on everything...it's hard to find the truth, and not half truths with a spin towards whoever's political agenda.
I know what you are saying Motive...but truth has no sister nor twin brother and is not able to be spun simply because we hold these truths to be self-evident and given of the creator! Murder is unwarranted killing, Killing in self defense or for freedom is essential for all to live free, stealing from one mans wallet because you refuse to work is not borrowing because you are hungry! Intent is the key to decernment not words! God is the creator of the universe and he placed earth at it's center and it is the only planet anywhere like not by random chance b ut by his design! Even today the Nasa folks are just dumbfounded by what their own Hubble has sent back to them in form of pitures showing just that! God could care les about haters like John Sterwart or BHO, as his purpose marches on! tHE MEDIA SEEMS TO BE FOLLOWING SCRIPTURE as they are folloowing the storyline right up to the one world governemnt! It is if they have somehow obsorbed the info but not seen the connection to the bible! Hang on for the real truth as every knee will bend and every head will bow before the true God of this world!
The vid missing the entire point...the media is dead except on Drudge, Fox, Rush, Hannity, an Beck precisely because the communist ticks of WC can no longer take a war suck as Viet Nam, where the enemy was soundly defeated and prepared to surrender officially got rejuvienate because of a huge lie that WC told to America at 6:00 PM, on that dreaded day when the hearts and minds of sheeploe were lost! We Croncrite, while sailing with the Clintons plainly conveyed his love of Communism, and how it had evolved into global warming and other schemes that would be as successful as he had been at speaking for the good of the collective. I want miss him
