SACRAMENTO, Calif.- A former opponent of Barack Obama's has come back to haunt him over questions regarding Obama's citizenship.

According to a press release from the American Independent Party, former presidential candidate Alan Keyes and other members of the party have filed suit in California Superior Court in Sacramento to stop the state from giving its electoral votes to President-elect Barack Obama until documentary evidence is provided to prove Obama is indeed a natural born citizen of the United States.

Some conservatives have questioned Obama's citizenship in recent months. Obama says he was born in Hawaii in 1961.

Keyes also ran against Obama as a Republican for the U.S. Senate seat in Illinois in 2004. Obama won that election to serve his first and only term in the U.S. Senate.


People are so ignorant in this country.... READ THE CONSTITUTION! If this guy wins his lawsuit... guess who's gonna be pres? BIDEN... theres a great idea!

2 seperate lawsuits in seperate states (PA and I think OR) were dismissed by judges without so much as a hearing.

I voted for Keyes in the primary a long time ago. Great speaker. Good ideas. I hope this (3rd) lawsuit gets some traction before 1/20.

I have a better question. Why wasn't his admitted cocaine use a bigger issue? Why doesn't anyone question how an unknown, community college flunky get into and pay for Harvard? How does an unknown junior senator lie to get into "connection" parties at a democratic convention only to be nominated for president at the next one?

Why such evasive manuevers for such a simple task. Produce the certificate to the judge.
