Front page of today's Wall Street Journal has an article about President Bush's recent felony pardons. It ties those pardoned to a common thread of gun interest. According to the article the pardoned are mostly rural, blue collar Bush voter-types who want their gun rights returned. The elitist tone of the article is deafening. For example it infers it is a bad thing that someone who accidentally killed a bald eagle while trying to poison coyotes should want to teach his grandkids to shoot. I like the editorial pages of the WSJ but the news pages are typical New York snobbish B.S. We lived for 8 years in NJ and it had the same view toward firearms. Couldn't even buy a Red Ryder BB gun so your kid could shoot his eye out. Rant finished.

Note: I also posted this rant on the new revolverforums.com site set up by Max. Those of you who like guns should check it out.

While I Dont Like The Majority Of His Pardon's, Accually Most Of Them Pissed Me Off. The Guy With The Bald Eagle Seemed To Be A Decent Person To Be Pardoned.

In principle I don't like pardons, be they presidential or gubernatorial. Let the courts do their work and don't let politicians undo that. I'm with you that lots of the people who get left off are scoundrels -- perhaps the most notorious being Marc Rich pardoned by Clinton. However, I hated the tone of the article -- makes it appear that the love of guns are the problem with these people and just stigmatizes the whole thing. This was supposed to be news story but the WSJ used inherent biases to slant it, IMHO.

I read it at work the paper copy we receive there. You might try the WSJ site, though think they charge. Might be able to access it a day later.
