Do you have info on who is pursuing the case yet again? A link to an article? I think it's a dead horse. He's elected, I don't think our government has the stomach to go after this. Besides, if there was an issue (there might be) I think the Clinton machine would have taken him out of the race a long time ago. They have the resources and the will.

Wow, not bad. I hope this gains momentum. I doubt it will, because the US has become so apathetic. I can't understand why he won't pay the $12 to produce a copy of the real birth certificate instead of a useless "certificate of live birth".

You people are just fucked in the head. Really, totally delusional.

Take a look at Fact Check's Born In the USA (http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/born_in_the_usa.html). They have examined, touched, and photographed the original birth certificate in Obama's Chicago headquarters. And they have concluded that it meets all the requirements for proof of US birth and citizenship.

Now, as a special treat, why don't you conspiracy-theory nutcases take a look at a copy of the Honolulu Advertiser from Sunday, August 13, 1961 - where there is the following announcement:
http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w130/koa_/File0008-2.jpg.

Now, it is possible that Obama's grandparents conspired with Hawaii's Office of Vital Statistics (who provided the information to the newspaper for the announcements) to "fake" Obama's birth just in case forty seven years later he might decide to run for President. But if you really think that is likely, you need your head examined.

It is interesting to me that liberals alway accuse conservatives of being intolerant. Seems to be the other way around if you dare question them or bring up an alternative point of view. And then there's always bluster and profanity in place of civil discussion.

This is the second thread about Obama's birth certificate in the past two weeks.

Nobody, and I mean nobody, of any serious national stature takes this nonsense seriously. Obama has provided officially certified copies of his birth certificate, as well as the testimony of state officials. There is also the corroborating evidence of the newspaper, and the historical fact that both his mother and father were living in Hawaii when he was born. Quite frankly, it doesn't matter what proof he were to give you, and you still wouldn't be satisfied. You just want to whine.

There is no "debate" here. For the simple reason there is nothing to debate about. We cannot transport ourselves back in time to witness his actual birth, so barring that we simply have to accept the "proof" provided by the available documentation. Don't like it? Tough shit. I've never actually seen gold-plated guarantees that John McCain or Sarah Palin aren't the secret love children of Adolf Hitler and a mutant seacow - but I don't go on wasting people's time demanding that they "prove" otherwise.

But constanting bringing it up just gives me all the "proof" I need that this forum is populated by morons. Get that: Morons.

There is little point even trying to debate with people who take this stuff seriously. It is like trying to explain differential calculus to a week old puppy. You get to the part about Taylor polynomials, and Spot just wants to go piddle on the newspaper.

Keep pissing.

Chill out just a little. It is an interesting discussion. Why will he not allow the Birth Certificate (not the colb) to be examined and put this thing to rest? It only raises more questions. So much for an "open presidency" that BO ridiculed GW for.

He HAS allowed it to be examined. He requested the Hawaii State officials examine it. Under Hawaii law these are the ONLY people who are allowed to handle the actual document (For reasons I'm sure you can understand, state governments don't allow just anyone to come in off the street and finger this sort of document).

The Hawaii officials have certified as to their accuracy. Just because Barack Obama hasn't broken Hawaii State law and sent you personally the original of his birth certificate doesn't mean that somehow he is trying to hide something.

There are a lot of delusional people in this country. And just because some nutcase in Kentucky or wherever decides he's going to go on a publicity hunt by filing a frivolous lawsuit, doesn't make it "newsworthy."

The only thing even vaguely "interesting" is that there are so many people who even given credence to any of this nonsense.

dude your the delusional one it is not against the law for other people to look at the copy if he grants them the ability. and he has not gave anyone a copy of it he gave them a certificate of live birth which could mean he was born anywhere in the world.

No. You (once again) do not know what you are talking about. You may not walk into the Hawaii records office and physically handle an original birth certificate. This is a restricted area. Get that through your head. Nobody, but nobody, gets in there, other than state officials, no matter who gives their permission.

MYCAR47562
12-02-2008, 03:25 PM
ok that still dosent negate the fact that he wont give a copy of his real birth certificate. unless the certificate of live biirth is the copy then that shows that more than likely he wasnt born on us soil

Son, you obviously are a very poorly educated kid. I feel sorry that you you have gone through life so sadly misinformed, harboring such a deep persecution complex. Maybe you ought to be asking yourself how it was that you managed to go through a (public?) school system with such a deficient understanding of how the world works.

There are many social, economic, and political topics and issues that are worth discussing. Taxes, trade policy, race relations. The role, if any, of the Government in economic development. The balance between our rights as individuals versus that of society.

But you don't seem to want to discuss them. You are clinging, (bitterly?) to an issue that is basically a non-starter. No judge is going to let any of these ridiculous lawsuits proceed - for the very good reason: there is no credible evidence that Barack Obama is anything other than what he says he is. There is, by way of contrast, an overwhelming weight of documentary and circumstantial evidence that Obama was born in Hawaii in 1961.

I don't like to toss the "race card" into the mix: But honestly, ask yourself if you would really be making such a huge issue of his birth certificate if the next President was a white guy called Barry O'Brien instead of a black man named Barack Obama?

If, and this is a huge IF, any judge, in any court inside the United States, decides that any of these cases has sufficient merit to be allowed into court- then MAYBE Obama's birth certificate is worth discussing. Until that point - you really are just wasting people's time.

Yes you do like playing the race card. I have seen no inclination of anyone on this topic to consider race at all -- yet you are tossing it out there, just as the Libs did throughout the campaign. Obama did it himself by noting publicly that he didn't look like the other Presidents appearing on bills. He also warned that race would be made an issue by the McCain campaign (which it never was -- to the contrary -- McCain avoided calling out Obama on his ties to Rev. Wright, though many of us thought he should have really nailed him on that one.)

I tend to agree with you that the Citizenship issue is a dead topic. Hillary's operatives would have uncovered it. If not uncovered by her, but truly an issue, who is going to take on the elected President and his party's power in Congress?

Going to the Supreme Court...
http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2008/11/26/1689515.aspx

TAKING OBAMA BIRTH CHALLENGE TO COURT

From NBC’s Pete Williams
When the justices of the U.S. Supreme Court meet on Dec. 5th, in their regular private conference to decide which cases to hear, two lawsuits that have captivated a segment of the blogosphere will be up for discussion.

Both urge the court to consider claims that President-elect Obama is not qualified to be president, because he is not a natural-born American citizen.

Persistent concerns about the qualifications of both major party candidates rank among the oddest aspects of 2008's historic campaign.

Article II, Section 1 of the Constitution provides that "No person except a natural born citizen" is eligible to be president. John McCain's status was questioned because he was born in the Panama Canal Zone and various theories have been advanced to cast doubt on Obama's.

Lawsuits over the inclusion of their names on state general-election ballots popped up around the country and were quickly dispensed with by local courts. But two challengers have pursued their cases to the Supreme Court.

Pennsylvania lawyer Philip Berg claims that the circumstances of Obama's birth are vague and that he may have been born in Kenya. Obama's mother, Berg asserts, later flew to Hawaii to register the birth.

Leo Donofrio, a New Jersey lawyer, contends that election officials in his state failed to ensure that only legally qualified candidates were placed on the ballot. Obama may have been born in the United States, Donofrio argues, but "natural born" status depends on both parents being American citizens. Obama's father was Kenyan.

The justices are unlikely to take up these cases for a host of reasons, not the least of which is the invitation to overturn the results of an election in which more than 66 million Americans voted for Obama. An equally high hurdle is the issue of whether Berg or Donofrio have the legal right to sue claiming a violation of the Constitution.

In dismissing Berg's complaint, a federal judge in Pennsylvania found that he failed to meet the basic test required for sustaining a lawsuit, because he couldn't show how the inclusion of Obama's name on the ballot would cause him -- apart from others -- some particular harm. Berg's stake, the judge said, "is no greater and his status no more differentiated than that of millions of other voters."

Other courts presented with similar challenges have reached the same conclusion, ruling that there is no general legal right to sue over the Constitution's eligibility requirements. Federal courts typically reject claims of legal standing based simply on a litigant's status as a voter or taxpayer.

The Obama campaign had hoped to end the controversy last spring by releasing his actual Hawaii birth certificate. But that prompted further questions about its authenticity, which were compounded when state authorities in Hawaii said they could not vouch for it, because they were constrained by the privacy laws.

Then, on Oct. 31st, the director of Hawaii's Department of Health issued a statement, proclaiming that he had personally seen and verified that the state has "Sen. Obama's original birth certificate on record," which shows that he was born there.

Here's an article from Friday:
http://news.aol.com/political-machine/2008/12/05/supreme-court-not-considering-obamas-birth-certificate-case/

But the interesting thing is the poll. With over 100,000 votes...

Is Barack Obama's birth certificate real?
Yes 53021 (47.1%)
No 59566 (52.9%)

...now, that to me is very interesting.

I guess we will continue to wait to see if it gets out of conference this week. Will they hear it or won't they? Will they get it doen before the electoral college vote on 12/15?
