from Foxnews...
The Republicans want to force the companies into bankruptcy or mandate hefty concessions from autoworkers and creditors as a condition of any federal aid. They also oppose an environmental mandate that House Democrats insisted on including in the measure.
Did you know there is an AP story that has federal judges raises in there too? If it can't stand on it's own, pork it somewhere.
I think bankruptcy is the only way to break the stranglehold the union has on the car companies and it's the only way the beg 3 will get serious and make needed changes. Job banks - what a racket.
I hear about the poor retirerees... well I got news for you, I fully expect to work until the day I die. I would love to retire someday, but I don't see it happening. They "bet" their retirement on a company and if it goes down like it's seems to be headed, then they will have to go back to work. If they are disabled, then that is another story, but the promises made to them by the unions are no better than the paper they were written on.

Id Be Interested To See Where There Number's Are
Im Talking 2 Years Ago When They Were All On The Top Game Screwing Us I Guess I Cant Count The Dealerships Because There Owned By Other People. But You Really Have To Add Them In Because If They Fall So Does The Dealerships. So You Add All The In And Id Likely Put Money On It

The banks that have had problems are doing so largely because they either originated or bought securities in substandard mortgages made to people who can't or won't pay them back. Why were these mortgages granted? Because Barney Frank, Chris Dodd and their buddies at Fannie/Freddie relaxed standards. In typical liberal fashion it became a right to own a home rather than a privilege. Furthermore, banks were required to meet increasingly stringent Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) standards and lend money that prudently shouldn't have been lent. And yes I am a banker and know a thing or two of which I speak. And no, our bank is not on the crap list because we refused to knuckle under to the loose lending and are now stealing customers wholesale from those who did.

I'm in truckin and we have lost a lot of companies, fuel prices sunk a lot of the smaller ones. As a matter of fact my check did'nt make it this week. so you tkink they would bail out the truckin industry. I don't think so. I think the trucks are just a little more important to our economy than a damn car.

The bank I work for isn't having these problems. Neither did they need the bailout money but the Treasury didn't give them an option of taking it or not.
Secondly, if we loan the big 3 this money, does everyone really think that that will make everything all better? They aren't building cars people want. You can give them money and prop up their business but unless they are selling cars, they can't pay it back nor stay in business. I say let them fail and restructure. I hate it for the workers, but that cash cow is pretty damn skinny right now and the rest of the country shouldn't have to pay for what the UAW promised the workers.
Its a shame that these 3 companies have allowed their product to not only ruin their company but also the lives of their workers. Time to pull up the boot straps and get another job like the rest of us and compete for our jobs.

If the government really wanted to help out the big 3 it would get rid of the CAFE mileage standards and emission nonsense so they can build the cars people want (and on which they can make money). It will never happen -- if anything it will get worse with the BO's choices of Carol Browner and other "Greenies" for his environmental slots.
