View Full Version : Republican Campaigns Embarrassing to Watch

Even if the upcoming presidential election goes off without a hitch, the current campaigns for the republican nominee is becoming a laughing stock, and the libs are loving it. I've never witnessed such ugliness so early, and constant in a republican campaign. It reminds me of the ugliness of Carter and Kennedy, which opened the door even more for Reagan. Not one of the republican canidates has the charisma, and popularity to overcome months of bombardment from the others, and then reappear unscathed as the canidate.
The current moran in chief might actually have a shot at winning if the republicans keep destroying themselves. In such a horrible economy, along with dip-shit's attempt to transform America into a depressed socialist wasteland, what a travesty it would be.
Without a canidate with the charisma, charm, strength, integrity, and class Ronald Reagan had, they can't afford to continue this nonsense.
The fact is, the republican, and conservative base MUST be energized in large numbers to wake up on election day, go to the polls, and vote. The base isn't energized in mass for any of the current choices. The republicans aren't shooting themselves in the foot, they are holding hands, and jumping off a 10,000 foot cliff. I can't be the only one annoyed at this can I?
I think Chris Christie should reevaulate his options, and join the race, as the current choices we have are discouraging to say the least.
We have two canidates (Perry and Romney) who are already owned by special interests that have so far invested over 30 million dollars for their guys. We have Ron Paul, who has some interesting ideas, but his radical extremist isolationist, anti-semitic views blows him up. We have Herman Cain who is a novice with no experience. Cain would be the R version of a Jimmy Carter imho. We have Bachmann and Ginhrich who both are mainly shunned by the republican party. Santorum, and Huntsman appear to be solid canidates, but they haven't created any excitment whatsoever. They are both traveling nowhere at 100 mph.
Some how, some way, and very soon, the republicans need a GIGANTIC shot in the arm to reenergize the party or we may be ROYALLY screwed.

So true, Coolbreeze. You are not the only one noticing - it's very annoying.
The debates have a lot to do with this. By playing the traditional debate circuit our GOP candidates are allowing leftist media to dictate all contexts of each debate, giving them the power to make every candidate in turn look ridiculous. It's time for GOP to redefine debates. The entrenched traditional media is no longer required nor necessary; the party itself could orchestrate the events, it could turn to more conservative universities, institutes, or other groups to host them. Find a way to televise other than hosting on ABC/NBC/CBS/CNN/etc, but allowing video feeds to be carried by these networks, this is all certainly possible using cable, satellite, the Internet.
Even outside of the debates, the infighting is looking pretty ridiculous. A year ago it was certain the Defeatist-In-Chief in the White House would bind the GOP together.
I think the citizenry must look inwardly to find blame for a lot of this. We have allowed things to become this ugly. We are obsessed with issues which ought to be decided at the state level. We insist on a television personality. Our support for the military allows us to be herded into appearing to sanction the USA being world-police and global nation-builders. Personally I think interventionism has failed catastrophically. What business do we have telling other nations what to do? We can't even balance our own checkbook.
Our real power is, and always has been, economic. Only our economic rise sprouted our strong military and superior technology. Drop the ball on economic fundamentals, as we have, and everything else will go away soon. At that point it won't matter who our friends are.

I couldn't agree more Nelson.
The question is, if the canidates understand this, when are they going to right the ship?
Another thing that annoys me quite a bit are the growing instances where political pundits, and advisors, along with the "fair and balanced" press throw certain canidates under the bus.
Case in point: Even though I'm not a Cain fan, Cain deserves an even playing field as all the canidates do, but he's not getting it. In fact, very far from it.
About 4 weeks ago, Karl Rove, and other conservatives DICTATED to us that Cain climbing in the polls was a fluke, was temporary, and his rise was over. We were TOLD we would see Cain's poll numbers decline. Didn't happen. Cain's numbers continued to rise. Then the so called experts attacked Cain's 999 plan, and TOLD us Cain's poll numbers would finally start to decline. Didn't happen. Cain's numbers continued to rise. Chris Wallace, Krauthammer, Rove, and many others kept attacking Cain. Then the "experts" started broadcasting that Cain didn't have enough paid staff on his campaign, and that Cain wasn't working in enough states. The experts (on the right mind you) were telling us that Cain was unorganized, and inexperienced at campaigning, and that there was no way his poll numbers would continue to rise. The experts were wrong again. To their dismay Cain not only continued to have excellent rising poll numbers, but Cain overtook Romney, and Perry, and was leading in all the polls. The experts were wrong again because the people understand more so then ever that these so called experts have their own agendas, and Cain isn't part of those agendas. Now there's the harrassment issue, and Cain continues to get beat up from mainly the right. Now the "experts" are telling us how awful Cain is handling this most recent controversy, and these experts are once again telling us that Cain's numbers will drop. Time will tell I suppose.
Bachmann, Gingrich, and Paul have also been railroaded by the rightwing powers, advisors, and yes, even the "Fair and Balanced" press. What was that idiotic question Chris Wallace asked Michelle Bachmann a few weeks ago? The question was "Are you a flake?" That was extremely disrespectful to Bachmann, and intentionally or not, Wallace's question contributed to derailing Bachmann at a time when she was establishing some positive gains. The left usually does underhanded crap like that.
Romney and Perry have money, and friends in high places. The others, not as much. The others (even by the right including Fox News), have not been treated fair.
I am a die hard conservative, and I gotta tell you, Fox News is starting to get on my nerves, because they too are laced with quite a bit of bullshit throughout their programming.
