On that theme, wouldnt it be good if we elected them from actual good decent people around us,Richard Branson springs to mind, not people with egos and ulterior motives. You can see even the people who put them selves up for local council are usually 'different'.

Yes,that would be a great thing indeed.This will never happen untill the American people completly fire them all an start over. There has been several new guys go to Washinhton and find their hands are tied by the old incumbents. One in particular comes to mind, a fellow by the name of Gonzales from Arizona or N.Mexico went to Washington as a freshman Congressman. He tried to write legeslation against corruption and was promptly repremanded by the Senior Congressman, was told not to make waves. If he was planning on a political career he needed to go along to get along. After much dissapointment he resigned. he has appeared on TV and wrote several pieces. But this is an example of Washington politics. OH and this is for The "G" he was a Demacrat and it was the Dems who cut him off at the knees. He was warned by one high rankin member,you can do what you want ,just don't get in my pocket.This will never happen because the guys like "G" think their guys are upstanding honest polititions and they won't throw them out, and the same on the Republican side. So the old incumbents are safe and secure.And the bad Part of it is, they know this and have no fear of the voters. They laugh at us.

Well let's see what they did. Here's your list of did'nt do's. RELIGION, i'm still allowed to practice my religion without interferance from the government. But with this new administration there could be "change" comming. GUNS, the assault weapons ban was allowed to sunset under the Republican majority, that to is subject to "change". ABORTION, the Republicans tried to make Partial birth abortion illegal,but were unsucsessful due to the demarats filabuster. Why the Dems want to stick a pair of scissors in a baby's scull and kill them is beyond me. But i believe there will be a special place in HELL for them.

This is exactly correct and we also had some "moderate" Republicans including McCain, BTW, who couldn't be counted on to support GW. For example GWB had difficulty getting judicial appointments confirmed. Much of what has been blamed on GWB can also be laid at the feet of the Dem/Moderate Republican Congress -- the very Congressional mix which will undoubtedly fast-track any wacko legislation BO proposes.
