On another forum, one of the younger members heard that some people thought that Dr. M.L. King was a Communist. Here was my response. What say you?

"Back in his day, many people thought of King as a rabble-rousing troublemaker. Also there were allegations that he had secret ties to the Communist Party. Do a Google search and you will find all kinds of info on this, though I would not take a lot of it as factual. Also, despite his claims for non-violence, violence seemed to follow him wherever he went. There was also the matter of his need to plagiarize (steal) the writings of others and use them as his own. History (and the media) have been good to the Late Dr. King as he is now looked at by most people as an almost martyred saint. That was not how he was universally viewed when he was alive, based on my recollection. But do your own research and come to your own conclusions."

ok i was just told about some rumor's about him, now i live in douglasville which is a distant suburb of atlanta. ive grown up knowing only positive stuff about him, im trying to decide if i should investigate him more. i have alot of respect for what he did, even if he had communistic backgrounds and volience followed him should we really debunk him. with out him the civil right movement would have been alot more violent if the leader was say malcom x.

i think alot of the trouble maker could have been the same press that pushed obama more than any president ever. i dont know what to think about any of this

Martin Luther King used to live in Oak Park in Montgomery Alabama. If he was a communist or not I can't say. He was a trouble maker from the word go. At least once a month a bomb would go off in his front yard, of course all of them that hit the house would never go off, but all of them in the yard would. I know this because we lived about a half mile away at the time. My father was a firm believer all this was done by him to get media press and it did.

Jesse Jackson. was/is a fraud who got his start hanging out with MLK. Immediately after King's assassination witnesses said that Jackson smeared some of King's blood on himself to look like he was right there when it happened (which he was not). I will not defend the segregation and other shameful behaviors that occurred before the Civil Rights movement, but the Movement had its own share of phonies and frauds. Looking back, much of the unsavory side of leaders like MLK and JJ is lost by the liberal revisionists of history. The same can be said of the Sainted JFK, but that is a topic for another thread.

Kind of a pattern of deception ain't it. Look at how Al Sharpton got his career started with Tawana Brawly.

Martin Luther King was a trouble maker, he needed to be in order to call attention to the injustices that plagued this country. Was he a violent man? I don't know, would segregation still be, if he hadn't come by don't know that ether what I do know I can sit down next to an African American and have lunch with him, not have to watch my back. I can choose to have a friend of any color and not have to worry about being lynched right along side him. Did he do some good you bet he did. I served alongside and had Sargent's that are African American, some where a$$ holes some were great guys. I'm glade that he existed.

I am glad he existed, too, if that is what it took to end desegregation. That was a shameful part of our History. Surprising that no politician (including those "caring" Democrats) tackled it for many years. FDR disliked it but did not want to spend the political capital. My point is that MLK has been deified and blow out of proportion into a Saint with his faults glossed over. Also, pure charlatans like Sharpton and Jesse have leverage Dr. King's name for their own selfish purposes.

(MLK has been deified ) History does that, look at good ol George Washington he spent more time in the beds of his Lts. with they're wives than his own, plus his expense account was out of this world, but claimed he never took a pay check. Time and history have a way of deifying people. 100% with you on Sharpton and Jesse. ( I must admit at one time I had respect for Jesse, till I got to know him)
