Senate to Hold Hearings on Marines Haditha Allegations

I've noticed the ACLU isn't threatening the US Government on this one. Perhaps it's because these are US citizens being detained... instead of the lying ununiformed terrorist enemies not covered by Geneva conventions.

Why on earth are we holding our own marines as POWs at Camp Pendleton? As for the NY Times and other groups like the AP, all of whom are seemingly foaming at the mouth to break (http://www.nytimes.com/2006/05/31/world/middleeast/31haditha.html?hp&ex=1149134400&en=ba9330564ff54260&ei=5094&partner=homepage) and hype these stories, shouldn't they trust the word of our marines first, and foreign accusers last?

We are playing into the enemy's hands, with the NY Times and the rest of the liberal media at the forefront. The liberal heyday was Vietnam, it was their defining moment, and today they will stop at nothing to ensure we also lose this war.

Seven Marines, One Sailor Charged With Murder in Iraqi Civilian Death at Hamdaniya

Once again here we are taking the enemy's word and bringing criminal charges against our soldiers in a time of war. This is an outrage!

And the leftist press absolutely loves it. Their followers will read more about these two stories than anything else in the coming weeks.

I don't believe the Military courts would bring charges unless they felt there was "some justification".
Is the "rightist" press not reporting the story? Seems the links provided go to Fox News.
Sensationalism has been a problem in the press since stone tablets, I don't expect it to change. Seems that courses in ethics and personal responsibility are not a part of a Journalism curriculum.
It's all a tragedy and I'm sure the Military review system will seach every avenue to either substantiate or dismiss these allegations.
Till then we can all be supportive of our troops during their individual "trials by fire".

We could have a separate discussion about journalistic ethics and the lack of accountability in the traditional media, which in my observation is nearly entirely left wing.

But anyway, those are both links to Associated Press stories, which have been reprinted at FoxNews.com.

Our soldiers, American citizens, are being detained based on the word of the enemy!

Learned these marines have been confined since approximately May 12, and they are currently in SOLITARY confinement at Camp Pendleton... where they were long before charges were filed. They are prisoners of war... our own marines!!! Also learned these charges originated from Hamdaniya villagers in Iraq, in the middle of the terrorist stronghold. What a travesty. One of the marines has a web site: http://www.innocentmarine.com/
