The only people who would need one of those Digital Converter boxes would be people who receive "over the air" broadcasts - and don't use cable TV or satellite broadcast service.

Even if the components WERE a camera and microphone there is no way that anything they were to record could be broadcast back to the guys in the black helicopters. (Notice he didn't seem to find any evidence of any components capable of broadcasting or otherwise transmitting data.)

This is either a deliberate hoax, or simply somebody who doesn't understand what the various components inside the box are.

I agree with you; sounds like it was spread by the black helicopter/tin foil on the head crowd. I am guessing that some people were speculating why the big push and expense to provide converter boxes as part of the stimulus package. However, a senior citizen without television is like a duck without water. I remember a story about the cable going out during the Lawrence Welk Show in a retirement home (this was a number of years ago) and there was a near-riot by the seniors. Now that I am one (according to AARP) it isn't so funny!:D

You know a lot of the info on that site is correct; I've researched it. However, posting stories like these are what gets their lot thrown in with the tin-foil-hat wearing crowd. Still, you never know.

Hahaha, this reminds me of Romper Room - I know some of those on this site will remember that show, when the lady would look into the camera with her magic magnifying glass and say "I see Suzy, and Ricky, and Billy... " 'course with a name like Johnny she always said my name, so I used to get really paranoid and hide behind the couch so she wouldn't see me in my PJs... :rofl:rofl:rofl

i do think that was a hoex but to say it couldnt be done, well i dont know about that .in 1942 Nielsen started his first Nielsen ratings with the Nielsen Radio Index ,that was in 1942 alot has changed in 60some years
