My politically-connected friend and his sons usually go and my daughter went a few years ago. I've been watching updates on Fox and the leader of the conservative movement is speaking at 5:00 tomorrow.

Supposed to be a fun, high energy event with like-minded individuals. Check out the list of speakers and panelists -- the big names in conservatism:

There is always next year....

This is one of many events I would like to attend but can't get to. I'd also like to march on DC, but again can't get to it. I guess there was a "tea party" at the OKC capital, but I didn't know about it or else I would have been there.

I'm in a mood for a good tea-party or demonstration (Libs shouldn't have the corner on that market). A conservative rally would be nice. Even a Lincoln Day Republican fundraiser. Need to do something as I watch our country going down the socialist crapper.

Yeah, I think it is inevitable that there will be one.

I think what it will take is that at some point taxing "the rich" alone is not going to be feasible to support this unsustainable level of debt and the tax increases will begin working their way down the food chain. Once they begin to hit critical mass there should be enough momentum to really get some reform going.

Unfortunately, I think it will take a while for that to happen and we will see a lot of pain between now and then. And even when it does happen the reform will take quite a while before we see any real benefit.

Also I think that once Universal (aka socialized) Healthcare takes off we will be beyond the point of no return on that and it will become the same albatross around the taxpayers' necks that the current Social Security system is, providing yet another slush fund for the U.S. Congress to use as they see fit.

I hate to be so gloomy, but I feel that's a pretty relaistic view. Any other better scenario IMHO would just be plain luck.

It says a lot about the total intellectual, moral, and political bankruptcy of the American conservative that "Joe The Plumber" is the main attraction. Even Sarah Palin and Bobby Jindal had the good sense to stay away.

Because, when you think about it, Joe the P doesn't really have anything intelligent to say about anything. He's just a stupid, ignorant, lying, angry white guy who thinks he's important because he rants on about things he doesn't even begin to understand.

He's in good company.
