Pretty unusual but we have it here occasionally. Occurs I guess when warmer air is mixing with colder air.

No offense, but right now I have to admit enjoying the scenes of snow in the South. You folks usually have mild weather this time of year while we are digging out snow. We avoided this storm, though cold (20) and supposed to warm up above freezing later in the week.:)

Its been about 5 years since the last measurable snow down here. But this is the 1st time I've heard thunder, being from the upstate I've seen my share of snow. :)

Hell they have their flashers on driving 10 mph and the roads barely covered. You want to see something funny come down here when it snows. No matter how much it snows you better go the grocery store because you won't find a loaf of bread of a gallon of mike for a hundred miles.:rofl

Cute, about the Bread & Milk RUN, that happens up here when we are expecting a Nor'Easter, tonights storm may bring my area 4-8", depending on where the WARM line falls, I'm hoping it get's close to us and most of this stays as rain. Storms like tonigts might yield a few Thunder Booomers, pretty cool to hear that in the dead of winter. 20 days to go, but I am ready now for SPRING!

We got around 6" and the power went out about 10:00 pm and came back on around 7:00 this morning. I love my fire place the blower wasn't running but you stoke that kid up and open the draft that stove will get red. The roads are a mess too, no snow pl0ows down here.

I should have said a couple of snowplows but not enough to clean up the mess.

Southern Guys - be careful riding your bike after the roads clear off. That salt residue will rust and pit your bike very quickly (don't ask how I know that). I always wait for a rain to clear off the road before riding, even if the weather warms up. An alternative is to wash the heck out of your bike soon after the ride. Also, I hate the way the stone they apply builds up at intersections, just waiting to take you down (don't ske me how I know that).:)

Salt and slag does make a mess, don't know when we'll get another rain.

No doubt. They really pour it on here and it takes forever to clear. I'm always extremely careful - especially at intersections.

BTW - gonna be great riding weather here this week. After tomorrow we shouldn't see any temps south of 65+ - supposed to be in the high 70s low 80s. Times like these I don't mind living in "flyover" country...

I could do this all night and still not get the truth through to you. Global Warming is ALL about the money. No GW, no funding.

I have. Alot. And the GW crowd is losing steam. Maybe the fact that the last 10 years have been cooling? Maybe our idiot president wants to put the brakes on any hope of economic recovery because of the "cap and trade" dogma? Take your pick.:)

If you notice, there has been a trend towards "Climate Change" over the words "Global Warming". This is not an accident. When they decide we are cooling over the next year or so, they can still pin the blame on the public. Fortunately for them the masses generally have short term memories, which work to their favor. Anyone else remember the global cooling scare in the 70's? I sure do.

The same guy you refer to as Captain Dee Dee Dee? Yep, he was duped into believeing it. Just like you G, so that puts GWB and McGoofy at the same level as you. Ouch.

As a kid I remember ~1971/1972'ish, my dad attended community discussion groups on the subject!

I wish he had lived long enough to tell me more of his personal experiences, that and many others, he passed of Leukemia in 1973, only four years after my mother passed of heart failure at the Gitmo Naval Hospital in 1969.
