It's now up to 15 states and counting!!!

Some state lawmakers fighting federal stimulus

Lawmakers across the country are sponsoring resolutions — most of them only symbolic — asserting state sovereignty, in effect the right to ignore any federal law or policies they deem unconstitutional, including the stimulus bill, the No Child Left Behind Act and any new assault rifle ban.

Lawmakers in at least 15 states are sponsoring similar resolutions. They say they're fighting back against decades of federal overreach, culminating in the stimulus package.

I may set my Careerbuilder search to these states from now on.

You already are. Texas introduced their resolution Feb 12.

Thanks for that good news right$pecial! I can go to sleep tonight in a good mood.

Wow, Texas is the 25th state to do this!

Yeah, I've been following this stuff for about a month now. Pretty important stuff if it protects us from the Fed, but it is also kind of scary. Go look up primary sources from the 1850s; the language coming from the states back then nearly mirrors what we're seeing today.

Looks like the North Carolina thought it was a good idea too! Passed the House at the first reading. Still requires Senate approval but given the mood, passing the state Senate should not be an issue.

Hope and change put them in office too. :rolleyes:I'll bet it was the old timers, we need to find out who sponsored the bill.

Given the absurd number of states passing similar measures, I think it is safe to say that it is the will of the people rather than a few isolated kooks. I know that the guys doing this in Oklahoma are not fossils, not that it would matter.

Think my sarcasm was misinterpreted in my earlier post; I'd agree with you that it is the will of the people rather than kooks or idiots. I'm glad for Texas (since I still vote down there) and North Carolina (aka Pineland).

Oklahoma's concurrent resolution passed this week. The previous measure made it past the senate and house only to get vetoed by the cowardly Governor Brad Henry. This measure did not require the Governor's signature to pass and has now done so.

I like to see any sign of organized resistance to the Big BHO takeover of freedom. It's good and it must be frightning to the media cause they aint covering it! Jeb
