I was in 7-Eleven yesterday buying some coffee and I saw Barack Obama Trading Cards (http://www.toppsonlinestore.com/servlet/the-Obama-Trading-Cards/Categories). (I don't think the ones I saw were these Topps cards, but similar ones.) All this hype generated for an unknown man... it's pretty amazing. Imagine a day when your popularity and approval ratings derive from 1) your skin color, and 2) who you are not (GWB). That day has already arrived!

You ought to walk around DC and see how many vendors have all manner of BO paraphernalia. Lots of it was being clearanced, but that is to be expected, I suppose. Also, African art is on display in many of the government buildings we visited, also to be expected.
