The G,
I have read the article, and no matter how much I try, I just can't hold the US responsible for radical attacks against and hatred toward the US.
Presuming one agrees with the author's view of history (which I do not), there are still two glaring problems I find in his analysis. It is incomplete, and formed in "20-20 hindsight."
For instance, if I decide to help someone, and tomorrow that person backstabs me, then the author of this piece will point at me, saying I brought it upon myself. His accusation may sound very convincing because he can cite actual fact - after all, I did help the backstabber. But I say his analysis is incomplete, because he has derived his reason for the backstabbing without even considering the evil intent of the backstabber. And it would be an easy accusation to make in "20-20 hindsight" because he now knows the backstabber is a backstabber, while this fact was unknown when I decided to help the poor chap.
Finally, his thinking is vindictive, and not productive. I would ask the author if he holds the US responsible for the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. A similar case could be made. And it would be just as inaccurate.

We trained them finance them with our TAX dollars and they attacked us....tough one to figure out. I've yet to hear anyone take credit for this one.

So, I guess if it's our fault, then we're the real bad guys, and getting attacked is what we deserved. Shoot, in that case, we also deserve to lose to the Muslim freedom fighters.

When we are attacked by muslim terrorists, affected by warm temperatures, or encounter any obstacle, the strong person does not look inward for blame. He overcomes the obstacle at hand.
The weak person finds fault in himself and wallows in blame.

They should accept the blame and learn from their mistakes. "Axes of evil "

The G, we clearly have different takes on this. I'm not going to change your mind, and you're not going to change mine. Enough said on my part.

The enemy of my enemy is my friend.
It is pretty easy to look back on that period and say "They should have seen it coming", but no man can see all ends, and just because the USSR imploded does not mean they weren't REAL scary back in the day.
Of course mistakes were made, but what does this guy think he is proving by being the clever di(k after the fact?
