View Full Version : North Korea is Fully Fledged Nuclear Power?

This would be a good reason to keep ourselves well stocked with nuclear weapons. Thoughts???
"The world’s intelligence agencies and defence experts are quietly acknowledging that North Korea has become a fully fledged nuclear power with the capacity to wipe out entire cities in Japan and South Korea.
The new reality has emerged in off-hand remarks and in single sentences buried in lengthy reports. Increasing numbers of authoritative experts — from the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to the US Defence Secretary — are admitting that North Korea has miniaturised nuclear warheads to the extent that they can be launched on medium-range missiles, according to intelligence briefings."

Since our new administration appears to be replacing strength with diplomacy, I hope they know not to believe nations like North Korea (and Iran, etc) who say they are willing to talk about stopping nuclear weapons development. Because if we believe them, we're fools. And if we negotiate for such concessions, we're bigger fools.
Some correspondents believe the impoverished state will never surrender its atomic arsenal as it has few other cards to play.
But others say Pyongyang has a genuine interest in coming in from the diplomatic cold.
N Korea nuclear stand-off
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/2340405.stmThere's your typical media message for the last few decades. Basically: 'Maybe they'll come around. They're vain just like us and want to be liked more than anything.' Call it psychobabble policy.

We need to call them the axis of evil and don't pay them any attention.

I talk a lot with my parents about kicking tobacco but that doesn't mean it is going to happen soon. However, if they hacked into my bank account and made it so I had to pass a test to use the ATM I'm pretty sure even I would stop. I refuse to compare GW's term to anyone else's because that would fall into the "G" trap, but I have met a lot of vets who abandoned the military under Clinton and there has to be a reason for that.

I was in the military under Clinton...training had to be consolidated, programmed, and reduced to the most limited amount of time and resources possible due to fiscal constraints and reductions. Higher ups instituted a "doing more with less" mentality which was an utter failure. Training standards suffered but you won't hear too many people actually say so officially. The last guy that did got relieved of his duties.

That sounds about right. "Less with more" is an oxymoron in and of itself and it is not surprising that the people who thought so got the hell out.

I also was in the military under Clinton, when "feelings" held higher priority than "duty". You can't be worried about how you tell someone to shut a valve before it fills the entire compartment with steam in a matter of seconds (or worse..seawater)...you worry if that valve is gonna be shut in time.

So there's more to blame Clinton for than "Don't ask, Don't tell"?
Yeah I agree that N Korea is scary but current admin won't do anything about it.
