Anyone using a web-based RSS consolidator / aggregator ? Admittedly, I'm late arriving to this game... but starting to get into it now.

For a while, I used Feeddemon and other apps for Windoze, but I don't really want a new app for what is actually browser content. I prefer the browser client - it works from any of my machines at any location.

So far I really like Feedly (http://www.feedly.com/). The format and application are stellar - from a "magazine" perspective, it's my favorite so far. The display is Ajax-like dynamic and highly configurable. I can have it show me a lot of information at once, or drill down to specific categories which I, of course, define. Here's are screen shots with only a few feeds plugged in:

The main thing things I don't like are: it relies upon a browser plug in (not a big deal) and Google groups (a deal killer for me, I don't want to be tracked). But the browsing / reading experience is exactly what I'm looking for.

Gregarius is a set of PHP scripts. It doesn't rely upon Google. It's not as clean, not as dynamic, and doesn't have as many display options. But I can place it locally or anywhere I want - no need to visit someone else's site to get my news. There is no browser plug-in requirement. And, when I read my RSS feeds, Google isn't tracking my every move!

Nice thing about the PHP script approach: I can make a quick magazine for any audience. We have a development project in the western part of VA - I can take feeds from all the local newspapers in that area, any feeds from surrounding universities, from Topix, etc, and have an instant micro-site that requires no maintenance and is constantly updated.

Here's an installation of Gregarius:

I'm still looking at other web-based RSS aggregators. I really want the most customizable, eye-pleasing, magazine-like experience for my own news-reading purposes.

Cool, gotta look into this more, I've used similar features built into IE-8 a couple of times.
