Easy though, they're not the same thing. The only thing that I can conceive is that the left is trying to infer that Hitler's movement was nationalistic in nature and conservatives tend to put their own country ahead of others...in the sense that cleaning house abroad is all well and good, but our politicians owe their works to actual citizens first.

Marxism and Nazism and Tolatarianism all are predicated on a Large Dominant Central Government passing laws to protect the masses from some sinister force like a Monarchy, Rich Jewish bankers and unpure races, or the ruling class! Conservativism has nothing in common with anything but living with freedom and National Pride!
