My brother is the editor of a large northeast daily newspaper and has drifted to the left over the years. He is very touchy about discussions of the mainstream media's leftward bias but he epitomizes it. His paper endorsed BO and my poor elderly mother, after she took her blood pressure medicine, threatened to write a letter to the editor reprimanding him and the paper.

Easy: Divorced parents where one side is very liberal and the other is very conservative. I'm actually still a registered Dem and didn't truly drift over to this side until I had a few years of military experience under my belt. I'll be damned if I retire from that only to find I still have to put up with everybody telling me what to do on a daily basis.:rofl The funny part is that most of my relatives who are conservatives are, like me, more or less libertarians at this point as they're fed up with lying, cheating, scumbag politicians...oh what that was redundant.

I'm pretty sure that's what actually happened to may Dad's side of the family also.

A lot of people don't know the truth about a lot of Southern History. The southern Stratagey is what got the White House for Rep starting with Nixon and every since. But we have been invaded by snow birds and illegals to the point where it may not work anymore! Jeb

If you fail to stand for the fallen that fell for your right to stand...you are disrespecting their blood sacrafice. If we can't get our family on board what chance do we have with a stranger at college or on a forum. Reading everyones posts regarding family members has been entertaining to say the least. All my folks (parents and step parents) voted Dem this time around despite not being registered Dems. I make it a point to poke jabs at them each time a topic comes up nowadays. Especially since BO is basically GWB Part II...my step father is somewhat of a gun enthusiast and has finally seen the writing on the wall with that issue. Progress with them is slow at times but as they say in the PSYOP community, persistance wears down resistance. My sister is pretty much a hard core lib-Dem...I won't even waste my time talking politics with her.
