They have THOUSANDS of Lebanese Christian immigrants living within their borders, whose families have been getting the $hit bombed out of them this past month.
So, WTF IS FRANCE now, when they were supposedly all signed up to insert themselves to disarm the Hezbollah and stand between Lebanon and Israel?
WTF? WTF??
Please don't bore me with a bunch of ignorant, expletive-laden frog-bashing. I really just want to understand WTF is the matter with them.

France doesn't want to seem to be part of the occupational force and thus make themselves a prime target for all the muslims resident within their borders.

Yep, that and the fact that France really do seem to have a lot of trouble generating the political will or consensus within their government to do much of anything. Particularly going to war or putting troops in harms way, which in recent times they would prefer to avoid, at all costs. Maybe they are afraid of being compared with the USA?
I don't have as big a chip on my shoulder as a lot of Americans where France is concerned, mainly because my country has not done what yours has done and been treated the way they have treated you, but I observe their conduct in the international arena and Ais Sedai, I must say I am at as much of a loss as you are.
Very little about the French way of thinking or acting makes much sense to an Australian however, and I am sure that a large part of that is our removal from all of the EU turmoil and politics, particularly the European part of it. Every time I travel over there and watch the tv and read, say the European edition of the Wall Street Journal, I am amazed by how little we really hear about what goes on in Europe - ie through the media and papers. Only the big stuff really makes even the national and financial papers and programs here, and you'd have to watch the Foxtel Europe news channels a lot to get even some further depth of coverage. Every time I come back I try to keep up, but inevitably give up after a few weeks.

Probably not going to see expletive laden bashing here, at least not from me. My bashing of France is only slightly more scathing than your WTF, Ais Sedai.
Picture the US after 100 more years of 'progressive' democracy... more of the same from politicians putting their fingers to the wind before making decisions, increasingly seeking to appease others and make everyone happy, and generally lacking decisiveness and character. Whether you have a chip on your shoulder against France, or against the US, that is WTF France today.
They're sending soldiers, they're not sending soldiers, Kofi Annan of the UN(significant) wants them to lead 'peacekeepers' ... personally I think that is all a game. We all know where France stands - wherever Chirac finds the most favorable light.
